Speakers:
Natasha Akulenko, born & raised in Kiev, Ukraine, she was a teenager when the Chernobyl disaster erupted 60 miles north of the city. She was a member of a Soviet-American citizen diplomacy movement at the dawn of social change in the former Soviet Union; and an environmental activist in the 1990s. Akulenko coordinated the Ukrainian Energy Brigades project for schools and other public buildings, translated the Institute for Energy and Environmental Research bulletin “Nix MOX” for Russian activists, and helped produce the Nuclear Monitor in Ukrainian. She now lives in Madison, Wisconsin.
Kevin Kamps, has served as Radioactive Waste Watchdog at Beyond Nuclear in Takoma Park, Maryland since July 2007. Kamps was the Nuclear Waste Specialist at Nuclear Information & Resource Service in Washington, D.C. from 1999 to 2007. Beyond Nuclear educates and activates the public about the connections between nuclear power and nuclear weapons and the need to abolish both. Beyond Nuclear advocates for an energy future that is sustainable, benign and democratic.

About Peacemakers
Lakeshore Peacemakers is an active group of Manitowoc area citizens working for peace and justice in our community and throughout the world. Advocates for peace and justice are welcome to join us at any of our activities.
We gather for a public peace vigil from 4:30 to 5:00 PM on the first Friday of each month on the corner of 8th and Maritime in downtown Manitowoc.
Our regular meeting is at 10:00 AM, on the first Saturday of the month, at the Lakeshore Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 620 Park Street, Manitowoc.
